Each state has its own policies and laws concerning consumer
fireworks (formerly class C fireworks). Some states have a total ban on all
consumer fireworks, while others allow the sale of some or all.
State Regulations as of June 1, 2008
States with a complete
ban on all consumer fireworks:
Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey,
New York, and Rhode Island
States allowing only novelty consumer
fireworks:
Arizona
States allowing only sparklers and/or
other novelties:
Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Ohio, and
Vermont
States allowing some or all types of consumer
fireworks:
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado,
Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky,
Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana,
Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota,
Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee,
Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and
Wyoming.
